As our journey continued, Days 5 and 6 marked an unforgettable transition from Ketchikan, Alaska, to Bellingham, Washington—the gateway to the Lower 48. After an incredible 36-hour ferry ride, we finally arrived, taking in every breathtaking moment along the way. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, with clear skies offering stunning views of the scenic waters. Each sunset painted the horizon with vibrant colors, making it a spectacular experience to remember. This leg of the trip was nothing short of magical, showcasing nature’s beauty at its finest.

Day 4: Juneau to Ketchikan – A Scenic 19-Hour Ferry Ride

Today we embarked on an unforgettable journey on Day 4 as you travel from Juneau to Ketchikan aboard a 19-hour ferry ride through Alaska's breathtaking Inside Passage. This scenic route offers stunning views of rugged coastlines, serene waters, and abundant wildlife, making it a truly immersive experience. Day 1 - Embark on an unforgettable journey from Anchorage to Whittier to connect with the iconic Alaska Marine Highway. Begin by driving the scenic route to Whittier, a charming port town nestled on Prince William Sound. To access Whittier, you’ll pass through the famous 2.5-mile Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel, the longest highway tunnel in North America. This unique one-lane tunnel alternates traffic and offers a memorable experience, with its rugged rock walls and rich history. Once in Whittier, you can drive directly onto the ferry, setting sail through the breathtaking waterways of Southeast Alaska. The Alaska Marine Highway system offers a seamless and picturesque route all the way to Bellingham, Washington, showcasing stunning coastal landscapes, quaint coastal towns, and abundant wildlife. My Journey to Becoming a Pilot in Alaska

One of my biggest accomplishments was earning my pilot’s license. At the time, I was proud to be one of only 6,000 women in the United States to hold this certification. Living in Alaska, where resources for transportation are limited, having a pilot’s license opens up a world of possibilities. Most destinations don’t have roads, and access can be challenging, but flying allows you to go where few can.

When you have your own plane, the options are endless. You can explore the untouched natural beauty of Alaska, find remote fishing spots, or simply take in the breathtaking scenery that this incredible state has to offer. Flying gave me the freedom to navigate Alaska's vast wilderness and experience its many wonders firsthand.
