Exploring the Crow Creek Pass Hike in Chugach State Park, Alaska
The Crow Creek Pass hike in Chugach State Park, Alaska, offers an unforgettable adventure through breathtaking landscapes. From stunning glaciers and cascading waterfalls to abundant wildlife and historic mine ruins, this trail is a true gem for outdoor enthusiasts. My son and I tackled the challenging journey from Girdwood to Eagle River in just one day (26 miles), creating memories that will last a lifetime. Although the hike proved to be tough due to unexpected snow and trail damage, we persevered and completed it together. It was, without a doubt, some of the best time I've ever spent with my son. If you're planning to embark on this hike, be prepared for its challenges, but rest assured—it’s absolutely worth every step!
During our hike, we had an unforgettable experience—we crossed paths with both a black bear and a grizzly bear. It was certainly a scary moment, but I felt a sense of reassurance knowing I was with my son experienced in the backcountry. His expertise and calm demeanor helped me stay composed in what could have been a very daunting situation. Encounters like these remind us of the importance of being prepared, staying alert, and respecting wildlife while enjoying nature's beauty.

Alaska may be famous for its breathtaking landscapes and untamed wilderness, but it’s also known for one quirky fact: there are no snakes up there! While exploring the natural beauty of crater park, we found ourselves picking up rocks—just because we thought they looked neat. It was all in good fun until a kind passerby stopped to let us know that picking up rocks can sometimes have unintended consequences in other places, like disturbing snake or spider habitats. Thankfully, that’s not a concern in Alaska, where snakes don’t roam. A big thanks to the person who shared this tidbit with us and gave us a good laugh along the way! Oops - haha

My Journey to Becoming a Pilot in Alaska
One of my biggest accomplishments was earning my pilot’s license. At the time, I was proud to be one of only 6,000 women in the United States to hold this certification. Living in Alaska, where resources for transportation are limited, having a pilot’s license opens up a world of possibilities. Most destinations don’t have roads, and access can be challenging, but flying allows you to go where few can.
When you have your own plane, the options are endless. You can explore the untouched natural beauty of Alaska, find remote fishing spots, or simply take in the breathtaking scenery that this incredible state has to offer. Flying gave me the freedom to navigate Alaska's vast wilderness and experience its many wonders firsthand.
Join me as I share a few of my favorite destinations and adventures. If you're planning a trip to Alaska or considering learning to fly, feel free to ask questions—I’m happy to help guide you!
